The saga surrounding the Asia Cup 2025 trophy is escalating with every passing day, with the winning team, India, yet to receive the glittering silverware despite defeating Pakistan in the summit clash on September 28 in Dubai. However, according to a fresh report, there is a new twist which has put extreme pressure on Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to return the trophy.
According to Dainik Jagran reporter Abhishek Tripathi, the trophy and players' medals are currently with the PCB Chair, and the Continental Cup Trophy is still in the Dubai hotel where Naqvi is also staying.

India declines to accept Asia Cup Trophy from Mohsin Naqvi
For the unversed, the Continental Cup Trophy saga began after the Suryakumar Yadav-led side refused to accept the trophy from Naqvi. Notably, the post-match presentation was delayed by over an hour as India team stood by the decision not to accept the silverware by the PCB and ACC Chair. Skipper Surya and Co. did not want to receive the trophy from a prominent political personality in the wake of strained relations between the two Asian countries.

This stance from India left an awkward situation, forcing Naqvi to leave the Dubai stadium, taking the trophy alongside him. According to the same report, BCCI is miffed by the ACC Chair's antics and has initiated discussions with other Asian Cricket Boards to resolve the matter. The Indian Board has reportedly asked the PCB Chair to return the trophy and winning medals directly to the ACC office in Dubai, stating the trophy is not his personal property.

The BCCI is expected to raise the issue formally during the upcoming ICC conference in November. However, Naqvi has demanded another formal ceremony to hand over the trophy, and he must personally be present to hand over the silverware to the Indian team. It remains to be seen how the BCCI responds to his counterpart's request.
